The price of eggs appears to be on a steady incline with a tray of 18 now sold at the cost of R40,11 compared to R36,96 last year.

Bird flu has hit the country's egg-laying chicken population hard with millions of birds having been culled.
So the chicken farms still have their overhead, they don't cut down, their production drops so they have got to cover the overhead costs.— Shaun, caller
