"There'll be no results in by-election until a re-run in Zamdela" - SACP

As the counting of the hotly-contested Metsimaholo by-election continues, Some media houses are reporting that the ANC has won less than 30% of the vote with a coalition government on the cards for the Free State municipality.

The South African Communist Party (SACP) has handed over information regarding alleged vote rigging during by-elections in the Metsimaholo region to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC)

Alex Mashilo, SACP Spokesperson says that following the presentation of evidence of vote rigging at a party committee, the IEC could not announce the results of the by-election.

There was a meeting and there was an acknowledgement of some of those practices leading to a decision that there must be a re-run of one of the voting stations in Zamdela.

Alex Mashilo, SACP Spokesperson

Mashilo says that it is possible the re-run will happen next week Wednesday. He adds that until this is completed, no one can say that counting is completed and there are results.
