DA's federal council chairperson, James Selfe responds to reports of an internal political impasse in the City of CT.

Democratic Alliance’s federal council chairperson, James Selfe says the allegations of tender irregularities and a possible loss of R43 million on another tender are merely allegations which need to be properly investigated.

He says the party has set up an inquiry to investigate these allegations and asks everyone to give the inquiry a chance to complete the investigation.

In our view, these allegations need to be thoroughly and publicly investigated. That is the difference between us and the ANC, that we don't sweep things underneath the carpet, we deal with them openly and honestly.

James Selfe, DA Federal Executive Chairperson

Anyone can make a mistake as much as anyone can make false allegations.

James Selfe, DA Federal Executive Chairperson

The executive director to the Mayor's office, Craig Kesson, has accused the Mayor of trying to discredit a city staffer, who raised concerns over these tender irregularities.

Mayor Particia de Lille responded saying that the allegations are not true and that they are attempts to tarnish her reputation.

According to Selfe, the City of Cape Town has set up an independent investigator who will be reporting back in 30 days on December 29.

I don't mind people being ambitious or not liking one another but our main focus should be delivering services to the people of Cape Town and making sure that we are water resilient for the drought.

James Selfe, DA Federal Executive Chairperson

People can have their disagreements but they should disagree when they are finished delivering services to the public.
