Yunus Carrim: Naspers, Koos Bekker being untruthful about SABC-MultiChoice deal

Former communications minister and MP Yunus Carrim is adamant that Naspers chairperson Koos Bekker had a hand in swaying government's policy on digital migration.

Carrim says Bekker has been dishonest about the nature of the deal between Naspers subsidiary, MultiChoice, and the SABC.

However, Bekker maintains that there was nothing untoward in the contract between MultiChoice and the SABC.

Carrim says there was clause in the contract that was created to influence government policy through the public broadcaster.

He has questioned the ethics of the contract involving the pay TV giant.

He says Naspers and MultiChoice are examples of white monopoly capital that must account for its unethical behaviour.

Given what MultiChoice and Naspers are saying in the public domain is just not true, I have no choice but to speak out.
