Court orders Dr Barney Selebano to testify at Esidimeni arbitration

The High Court in Johannesburg has ordered suspended health HOD Dr Barney Selebano to testify at the Life Esidimeni arbitration and dismissed his application to have his subpoena set aside.

Selebano did not want to testify arguing that he will be going to a disciplinary hearing, and therefore, cannot do both.

EWN Masego Rahlaga says the court said Selebano's application had no legal grounds.

Judge Daniel Berger decided that he is throwing that application out of court and it will be with costs. Dr Selebano will have to pay for his legal costs as well as the states legal costs.

With that said we expect Dr Selebano to appear before former Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke tomorrow.
