KZN PGC numbers adjusted and still NDZ takes the lead in province

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa is leading the nominations for the ANC presidency after all nine provinces completed their nominations on Monday.

EWN reporter Ziyanda Ngcobo says some delegates have raised discrepancies with the KZN nominations which led to the figures being adjusted.

She says Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has now moved from 433 to 464 and Ramaphosa has moved from 193 to 191.

The reason for the recount, says Ngcobo, is that some of the branches that submitted their nominations were not counted and some forms were torn.

It was quite confusing because even us as journalists, we were trying to figure out what is happening here because there were also late nominations that were made.

Ziyanda Ngcobo, EWN reporter

As soon as the announcement was made, every region was requested to pay attention and if there are any discrepancies they should raise it.

Political analyst Tinyiko Maluleke says the recounting of the votes did not change the bigger picture, but it is the principle of trusting the process that is a bit concerning.

I don't know, apart from the need for the process to be trusted, whether what happened here will have a large bearing to what will happen in Nasrec.

Prof Tinyiko Maluleke, Independent political analyst

Dr Mathews Phosa, ANC presidential candidate announced his [intention to take legal steps against Mpumalanga](http://Mathews Phosa: ), asking the courts to set aside the outcomes of its PGC.

Maluleke says it is concerning that Mpumalanga will be going to the conference with 'a mysterious candidate'.

So Mpumalanga will be coming with some of the cards on their chests and we don't really know what could turn out.

Prof Tinyiko Maluleke, Independent political analyst

My sense is that Mpumalanga is a mystery even to itself and so it could end up surprising itself at Nasrec.
