Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi has commended parents at the Bryneven Primary School in Bryanston for bringing to light issues of mismanagement at the institution.
On Tuesday, parents protested outside the school, accusing the principal of the school of corruption, fraud and nepotism.
14 teachers have resigned in the past 12 months due to alleged victimisation.
There were also complaints of a Grade 2 Afrikaans teacher not being proficient in the language.
The school management team have now been told to give reasons why they should not be suspended.
I honestly appreciate their actions and really bringing this matter to our immediate attention.— Panyaza Lesufi, Gauteng Education MEC
Lesufi also met with parents at the Noordgesig Primary School in southern Johannesburg, where parents are calling for the removal of a black principal.
He says there has been no progress and will be meeting with the parents on Wednesday.
It is a very difficult one, we deferred yesterday the entire day about the meeting venue, but subsequently we agreed the venue will be at the school today, the meeting will continue at 3 o'clock.— Panyaza Lesufi, Gauteng Education MEC
