Saps members to undergo lifestyle audit

Police spokesperson Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo says all members of the Saps joining the force from now on will be subjected to psychometric as well as polygraph testing.

He says that the new National Police Commissioner General Khehla Sitole wants any member handling finances or procurement and supply chain members will be subjected to a lifestyle audit, especially those reported to be living beyond their financial means.

Eventually all members will be subjected to lifestyle audit but right now we are in a process of prioritising.

The audit will look at members lifestyles, the houses they own, they type of cars they own, the lifestyle they lean in terms of entertainment, the travelling and so on.

Asked if members of the police are earning enough for them to avoid bribery, Naidoo said anyone is earning enough if they live within their means.

If one lives within their means obviously the income would be enough but if people do not prioritise the way their money should be spent, obviously it won't be enough.
