Shaun Abrahams must go (and JZ can’t appoint his replacement) – High Court

Shaun Abrahams must go.

So ruled the Pretoria High Court on Friday.

Judge Dunstan Mlambo also barred President Jacob Zuma for appointing Abrahams’s replacement.

That responsibility now falls on Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Mlambo found that former NPA head Mxolisi Nxasana cannot be reinstated, because of the upcoming corruption cases against him.

He also has to pay back the R17 million golden handshake he received, as the Court deemed his contract termination invalid.

Ray White interviewed EWN’s Barry Bateman.

Listen to the interview in the audio below (and/or scroll down for quotes from it).

Abrahams will stay there for 60 days, or until the time that the Deputy President makes a new appointment.

Barry Bateman

The court says they [Jacob Zuma and Mxolisi Nxasana] conducted themselves recklessly.

Barry Bateman

It’s almost guaranteed that this will be appealed.
