There’s been a breakthrough in the so-called 'follow home' airport robberies in Gauteng.
The national investigation unit received a tip off on Sunday night about a group of men targeting travellers from OR Tambo International Airport.
Officers spotted the men on the N3 highway travelling in a stolen car and a shootout followed.
One suspect was shot dead and two others arrested, the police's Vishnu Naidoo explains.
Naidoo says evidence can link the suspects to at least five other robberies so far.
The suspects were travelling in a white Mercedes Benz ML.
He says at least seven OR Tambo airport victims on Monday confirmed being targeted by robbers in the same vehicle.
