France exploring ways to assist City of Cape Town with water crisis

France has reportedly offered the Western Cape assistance with its water crisis and finding new ways to stabilise the water supply in the area.

The Western Cape is suffering from the worst drought in 100 years, as dam levels continue to drop.

Mayco member for Informal Settlements, Water and Waste Services, Cllr Xanthea Limberg, says the City has been approached by other countries in the world, who also experienced drought at some point, to assist in the form of knowledge sharing and finances.

If there is financial assistance offered, there would have to be formal contracts in place on how the financing and the repayments would work.
