Over the weekend, the presidency announced that poor and working-class students will be funded for higher education. This has raised many questions on how it will be done.
Sizwe Nxasana Chairperson of National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) says that while the timing of the announcement is curious, it is a welcome decision. More clarity on how the funding will happen is needed, he adds.
The minister of finance indicated that Treasury it going to be looking at where the money and funds are going to come from. So hopefully we will get a bit more detail when he deals with the budget in February.— Sizwe Nxasana, Chairperson of Nsfas
