'#ANC54 is not the big game'

There is an expectation that Cyril Ramaphosa will emerge victorious as the new ANC president.

Political analyst Sithembile Mbete says that because the vote is by secret ballot, things could be different.

She adds that delegates who are voting should think beyond the elective conference itself.

The big game is not the ANC conference. The big game is winning state power. The ANC leaders who are the potential deployees to government departments, who are potential ministers or MECs or premiers - they want to be able to create an ANC coming out of this conference that is going to hold on to state power.
