ANC 2017 Elective Conference

Lindiwe Zulu: As women we are very disappointed

Minister of Small Business Development Lindiwe Zulu says as women in the ANC, they are very disappointed that only one female made into the top six of the African National Congress.

She says they were looking forward to having a female in the key decision making positions within the ANC.

Zulu previously revealed that she was going to vote for Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as her preferred candidate for the ANC President position.

We are disappointed as women, but it means we must go back to the drawing board...

Lindiwe Zulu, Minister of Small Business Development

We believe that as women we have the capacity and the capability of being in the leadership positions of the African National Congress.

Lindiwe Zulu, Minister of Small Business Development

But obviously the branches have spoken, we have to respect that. We have to go back and look at how in the future do we have women in key positions.

Lindiwe Zulu, Minister of Small Business Development

Zulu says as women, they are supported by men who are concerned about not having females in key decision making positions withing the ANC.

She sees they need to ensure that patriarchy is broken down. There are men who are also very concerned that there are no women in key decision-making structures.

Those men who are in agreement with us, it means as women we have to talk to them. At the end of the day it is about influencing all our members to understand that having women in key decision making positions in the ANC would also reflect itself in society.

Lindiwe Zulu, Minister of Small Business Development

Zulu declined to comment on state capture.
