Analyst Khaya Sithole says that it’s interesting to hear the ANC Women’s League thoughts on patriarchy in the Top Six, adding that the league needs to take accountability for how things turned out.

Watch: Bathabile Dlamini addresses media on no women in Top Six

I do agree with them that the ANC has regressed from its own resolutions which really advocate for gender parity and for them to end up with just one woman in the Top Six is a problem.

Khaya Sithole, Analyst

The ANC Women’s League should have been aware that they needed to run the type of campaign that would deliver some of the other female candidates, says Sithole.

They didn’t do that, they didn’t support Lindiwe Sisulu for deputy president and that could’ve probably been something that would’ve balanced the slates.

Khaya Sithole, Analyst

Sithole says that both parties are equally responsible for this mess.
