Desmond Dube to replace Sne Dladla in the cast of King Kong

Multiple award-winning actor and TV and film star Desmond Dube joined the cast of the of the iconic South African musical King Kong.

King Kong is a hit production of the popular Cape Town's Fugard Theatre which is currently playing until February 18, 2018.

Dube will be playing the central role of Pop, a role previously played by Sne Dladla, and will appear on stage from January 2.

Speaking to John Maytham Dube says he is looking forward to step in a role that he believes Sne Dladla executed very well and he is intending to make it his own.

I think the key is just to make the role your own.

Sne Dladla was fantastic and he told the story the way Sne Dladla would tell the story for me is being able to tell that story from the people I still have connections with from the Sophiatown era.

It has its challenges but I think it is a happy challenge...

It doesn't necessarily pay today's bills but there is a happiness that comes with being on stage - we work for applause to be honest...
