ANC 2017 Elective Conference

Supra Mahumapelo calls on all to accept #ANC54 outcomes

North West ANC Provincial Chairperson, Supra Mahumapelo says the 54th ANC Elective Conference is the first conference in the history of the ANC that saw members behaving well when voting.

He says there were concerns that there might be disruptions given what took place in some provinces during the Branch General Meetings (BGMs), but says he is happy they were able to "thwart the threat".

We must thank the delegates of the ANC for working with the leadership for making the conference a success because there was some worry that if this conference collapses, what about the country? So we have achieved that objective.

Supra Mahumapelo, North West ANC Provincial Chairperson

Mahumapelo said on Tuesday that if members call for the votes of the Secretary General to be recounted, they were going to call for the revote of all six top positions, including that of the President.

However, he now calls for everyone to accept the outcomes of the conference for the sake of unity.

We were told not to worry about it, it seems there has been a solution...

Supra Mahumapelo, North West ANC Provincial Chairperson

There's been talk amongst ourselves as chairpersons that we must make sure that nothing goes wrong, regardless of the outcome. All of us and those who are aggrieved and those who are not aggrieved, we must live with the outcome.

Supra Mahumapelo, North West ANC Provincial Chairperson

He says in Ramaphosa's speech later today he is expecting him to talk more about the issue of unity.

He should delve a little deeper into unity. All of us talk about unity but none of us goes a little deeper into details.

Supra Mahumapelo, North West ANC Provincial Chairperson

He should give at least seven things which we would say are the pointers, practicalities of unity and how that unity must translate into South Africaness unity.

Supra Mahumapelo, North West ANC Provincial Chairperson

Give hope to South Africans on how the ANC is going to gradually reposition itself to become a reliable instrument of stability and job creation for the people of South Africa.
