ANC 2017 Elective Conference

Mchunu needs 10 votes to take ANC secretary general

EWN reporter Ziyanda Ngcobo says there was a shocked response after information was made public around the Senzo Mchunu and Ace Magashule voting process for ANC secretary general.

It’s very interesting that Supra Mahumapelo was saying that they have been told to tell their delegates to accept the outcome.

Ngcobo says that it’s understood that urgent court action has been prepared to take to the South Gauteng High Court to challenge the decision.

In order for the numbers to have a material impact on the position of secretary general, Senzo Mchunu would have had to get 25 votes in order for him to then ascend to that particular position.

Ziyanda Ngcobo, EWN reporter

Ngcobo says that Mchunu supporters claim that they don’t plan to take any legal action.

It is believed that the decision to take the matter to court will be taken after the closed ANC plenary discussion on the voting matter currently underway.

The official announcement is expected to be made inside plenary as delegates are already inside.
