It’s holiday time and we’re all about those summer vibes with family… While you’re making the most of the outdoors during the holidays - there's still no better way to beat the heat than heading to the cinema for an ice-cold slushie, delicious popcorn and a family-friendly blockbuster. So, now that school’s out and there’s plenty of big summer blockbusters to choose from –we’ve put together the ultimate summer holiday movie guide to help you choose a movie that everyone will love.

Ferdinand

Now showing at Ster-Kinekor Age restriction: age 6+

A sweet story about courage, compassion and love.

A pacifist bull who escapes from a training camp in rural Spain is forced into the bullfighting ring, but despite all provocations will not fight the matador and, is returned to his former captors. But, with help from a wisecracking goat and three hedgehogs, the giant but gentle bovine must find a way to break free before he squares off against El Primero, the famous bullfighter who never loses.

Barbie: Dolphin Magic

Now showing at Ster-Kinekor Age restriction: age 5+

A gentle story about trust, teamwork and ingenuity.

In this fun, underwater adventure, Barbie and her sisters visit Ken at his summer internship where he works at a coral reef researching dolphins. While diving and exploring the reef, the sisters discover rare, rainbow-colored dolphins in captivity. Their attempt to save the dolphin, turns into quite the adventure.

Wonder

Now showing at Ster-Kinekor Age restriction: age 10+

A positive story about kindness, acceptance, empathy and perseverance.

Wonder tells the incredibly inspiring and heart-warming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters fifth grade, attending a mainstream school for the first time and becoming the most unlikely of heroes in his grade.

Paddington 2

A charming story about being polite and helping others.

Happily settled in with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens, Paddington becomes a popular member of the community, spreading joy and marmalade wherever he goes. While searching for the perfect gift for his beloved Aunt Lucy's 100th birthday, Paddington spots a unique pop-up book in Mr. Gruber's antique shop, and embarks upon a series of odd jobs to purchase it. But, when a thief steals the book, it's up to Paddington and the Browns to unmask the thief before Aunt Lucy's big celebration.

Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature

Showing at Ster-Kinekor on 5 January Age restriction: age 6+

A fun-filled story about adventure, community and teamwork.

They’re back. When Surly Squirrel and his animal friends find out that the evil mayor of Oakton plans to bulldoze their beloved Liberty Park to make way for a dangerous amusement park. Hoping to save the place they call home, Surly, Andie, Buddy and the rest of the gang join forces with Mr. Feng, a seemingly cute and innocent mouse who happens to be a fierce master of Kung Fu.
