Many people expect to receive tap water at restaurants for free. But given the current water crisis in the Cape, this position may have changed for some - and not everyone is happy about it!
Jeff Rosenberg, Chairperson at Fedhasa Cape, the national trade association for the hospitality industry, says that the industry should not take advantage of the drought to make more money.

Rosenberg says there are many places that are doing incredible things to help the water situation.
For a clear-cut answer on whether the hospitality industry should be charging you for tap water or not, Rosenberg says he can't comment from a legal point of view. But he says that if restaurants are charging for tap water, it must be clearly communicated.
One has to just understand and try and out it across to the patrons coming into your facility that we are in this problem, communicate it effectively and ask for the understanding in the situation.— Jeff Rosenberg, Chairperson at Fedhasa Cape
