Elkanah House responds to parents concerns about high uniform prices

CapeTalk's Kieno Kammies speaks to Andries van Renssen, Managing Director for Elkanah House, following a CapeTalk listener's email sent to The Kieno Kammies Show, inquiring about a list of compulsory and optional school uniform items for learners.

According to the email, the required uniform is only available at the school's uniform shop and not affordable to parents.

The Competition Commission instituted investigations into school uniforms price fixing by schools, after receiving complaints about the high prices last year.

Van Renssen says their company is fully compliant with the regulations set by the Competition Competition with regards to schools uniforms.

He says they only acquired Elkanah House in September 2017 and are still working on making significant changes.

We inherited the shop and its operations at the school and we will look into the current agreements and we will take steps to improve and comply.

Andries van Renssen, Managing Director for Elkanah House

This is not only about the Competition Commission requirements, but about giving a good service and a quality product at a reasonable price.
