Cape Town's water issues reported to incorrect cell number

For the past 6 months Margaret says she has been receiving calls from Cape Town residents who want to report either leaks or burst pipes in their area.

It seems her number has been incorrectly listed by the city.

Margaret is concerned that this may delay the turnaround time in which services could be delivered to locals. She says tried to talk to the water department to fix the mistake and give the correct number but she is still receiving these calls from desperate Capetonians.

I have tried all I can do by going to the water department and nobody seems to be taking this seriously...

Margaret, concerned citizen

I have been told by some people that my number has been given to them by neighbourhood watch.

Margaret, concerned citizen

I have probably received a 100 messages and it's been going on for several months.

Margaret, concerned citizen

The correct WhatsApp number for the City of Cape Town is 063 407 3699.
