[LISTEN] Mayor speaks on violent protest in Mogale

The Mogale community rioted over drugs, sex trade and corrupt police in their city. Violent protests effectively shut down the Krugersdorp CBD as protestors clashed with police.

Patrick Lipudi, Mayor of Mogale City, says they held a stakeholder meeting with Home Affairs, the South African Police Service (SAPS), religious leaders and various government departments in attendance. The organisers of the protest also attended.

The aim was to identify the areas that will help up to clamp down on this particular problem. I call it the cancerous crime of drugs and women trafficking.
