Day Zero: Water saving tip of the day

Want to start saving water but unsure how or where to start in your daily routine?

CapeTalk producer Nicola Bruns gives daily tips on how to save water to prevent unnecessary wastage so you make the most of your 50 litre allocation.

Tip 3:

Ask your guests to bring their own bed linen when they visit. In that way, they can take it home with them when they leave and wash it there, rather than using your 50 litres allocation.

Tip 2:

Put plastic bowls in all the basins and don't let any water go down the drain. This makes one more aware of how much is used and how often one opens the tap.

Most people think brushing their teeth in the shower helps, but it's a no-no as too much water goes down the drain unnecessarily while you're brushing.

Rather use one cup of water to brush your teeth and rinse.
