Eskom inquiry: Those who don't know Koko can be easily fooled - Mantshantsha

The Parliamentary inquiry into Eskom continued late into Wednesday night where the embattled Eskom executive, Matshela Koko, was probed about an interview he did with Carte Blanche in June 2016.

Koko was probed on whether he lied over a prepayment the power utility made to Tegeta to help it buy Optimum mine.

He told Parliament that he has been a loyal Eskom employee for over 20 years and he’s being vilified in a media smear campaign.

Deputy Editor at Financial Mail, Sikonathi Mantshantsha says that those who have not encountered Koko before, will be easily convinced by what he says.

He knows exactly what to say and how to say but if you follow evidence you will see it's a different story all together.

Sikonathi Mantshantsha, Deputy editor at Financial Mail

Unfortunately the members of Parliament failed to ask the obvious questions hence he was in charge.

Sikonathi Mantshantsha, Deputy editor at Financial Mail

Mantshantsha says Parliament is setting a wrong precedent by letting people lie and allowing them to get away with it.

In the SABC inquiry, people lied to Parliament and got away with it, no consequences whatsoever.

Sikonathi Mantshantsha, Deputy editor at Financial Mail

So what's going to stop them from doing it even in this Eskom inquiry.

Sikonathi Mantshantsha, Deputy editor at Financial Mail

They go there armed with three words, I don't know, I forgot and I can't recall. That's all they need to say...
