Political Desk: President Zuma is here to stay says Duarte

Deputy secretary-general of the African National Congress (ANC) Jessie Duarte has confirmed President Jacob Zuma will finish his term in office.

There has been speculation that Zuma could be shown the door soon.

In an interview with City Press, Duarte said the most recent briefing from ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa was that he and Zuma would meet weekly “to discuss coordination between government and the ANC”.

Political editor at News24 Mahlatse Gallens gives details on this and more.

Today we expecting that the ANC top six will be meeting and of course the national working committee is going to be having it's first meeting and it is going to be interesting how that plays out given these division that are already playing out in the media around President Jacob Zuma's exit.

It was quite interesting hearing David Mabuza saying ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa is safe with him and again confirming that in terms of power, power lies with the ANC, but on the other hand you have got Jesse Durate saying that the president is here to stay.
