Cape Town Cycle Tour's director David Bellairs explains how the Tour will avoid using municipal water during the event.
The Tour has estimated the amount of water that will be used and this amount will be brought in from outside the Western Cape and introduced back into the municipal reticulation system.
He spoke to CapeTalk's John Maytham about the strict water plan and explained that the organisers will purchase an amount of two million litres of spring water sourced from only licenced and fully tested suppliers, and from an area not experiencing drought.
This water will be put back into the local water grid. We are working closely with the City of Cape Town around the mechanics of how this water will be introduced back into the municipal reticulation system.— David Bellairs, Director of the Cape Town Cycle Tour
