The rand softened against the dollar on Monday, but stayed below the R12 barrier.

The rand and a host of South African assets has been on a rampage since Cyril Ramaphosa has been elected as ANC president.

Optimism over changes promised by Ramaphosa is driving the volatile currency higher.
