Reiger Park: Steve Mabona gets himself in hot water on Eusebius McKaiser Show

Pictures and videos have surfaced of a principal at Reiger Park Secondary School behaving in a predatory manner, having sex with different girls in his office.

The sexual misconduct allegations have raised questions, and the community wants heads to roll.

Spokesperson of the Gauteng Department of Education Steve Mabona tells Eusebius McKaiser what he believes is fact, and what is fiction regarding the case at Reiger Park.

Mabona says that the situation that unfolded at Reiger Park is technical because the principal resigned before he was suspended.

Despite the submission of his resignation letter which served notice, the principal continued to be in the employment of the government which means that he continued coming to the school, he explains.

The suspension that was given to him on Friday, where he was summoned to the HOD office is effective.

We are now pursing the dismissal process.

Mabona says that the dismissal process is underway and adds that they need to give the principal an opportunity to explain the allegations. He adds that the principal needs to give an account of what transpired.

The claim is that the sexual misconduct has been taking place for two years says Mabona.

We have the evidence that two of the learners that are depicted there matriculated in 2015 and 2016. We have information that the two learners...might have been indulging in sexual intercourse with the alleged principal.

Eusebius Mckaiser expressed his dismay at Mabona's turn of phrase asking surely these learners were victims of sexual predation by the principal? (Listen to the interview at 15'30" to hear what Mabona said)

You need to work with the parents and the learners involved and we need to continue to investigate the veracity of the information.

McKaiser also spoke to Kobus Swart, director of Truth and Deception Technologies, hired by the principal to investigate the matter.

He explains they will be conducting a digital and forensic analysis to look at the authenticity of the photos and videos.

The stance of the principal is that the photos and videos are not authentic.

Swart says one does not want to be caught off guard in an investigation and therefore one of the first questions he put to the principal was to have an open discussion regarding the allegations.

He was very clear with me that he had had no sexual intercourse or inappropriate relationships with learners.
