CoCT to finalise a list of water collection points for #DayZero
There has been a delay from the City of Cape Town in announcing the 200 sites designated as water collection points when the taps will be finally turned off for #DayZero.
According to Mayco member for safety and security Alderman JP Smith the city is fine tuning the last sites so when announcement is made, everything will be on track.
I certainly don't think it's fair to call it a delay. We also have to deal with some of the property owners who have leases on those sites to ensure there are agreements.JP Smith, Mayco Member for Safety and Security
Smith also adressed the sanitation issues around Day Zero saying that the City has a list of do's and don'ts to make sure that residents remain healthy and safe.
The core line is that people should drink water that is from the tap and not drink from the alternative water sources.JP Smith, Mayco Member for Safety and Security
We also explain simple systems of water purification like boiling the water before consumption.JP Smith, Mayco Member for Safety and Security
Make sure that the water is stored in a dark cool place and not in direct sunlight.JP Smith, Mayco Member for Safety and Security
