Sassa crisis: Nehawu want ties cut with CPS as soon as possible

Nehawu says it's shocked but not surprised as Sassa misses yet another deadline.

Nehawu's spokesperson Khaya Xaba says it is clear that Sassa does not want to let go of the Cash Paymaster Services (CPS) contract. Initially, the contract was supposed to have ended last year March, but Sassa applied for a year's extension that would allow it a smooth transition from CPS.

People are benefiting from that contract, otherwise how would you expect to justify why they would need to continue with a contract that is supposed to be ending.

Khaya Xaba, Nehawu spokesperson

Xaba says that since social development minister, Bathabile Dlamini is in the hot seat in relation to the Sassa debacle, the government should have taken action against her.

SASSA KEEN TO ENSURE GRANT PAYMENTS TAKEOVER PROCESS GOES SMOOTHLY

We have religiously called for Minister Dlamini to be sacked, so we can have someone who will prioritise the Sassa beneficiaries.

Khaya Xaba, Nehawu spokesperson

Meanwhile, GCIS acting CEO Phumla Williams says that government is doing everything they can to ensure a smooth transition from CPS.
