Inxeba first 'non' pornographic movies to be rated X18, no reasons given

After an intense public debate about the Xhosa movie Inxeba, the film and publication board has finally rated it X18 which automatically bans cinemas from screening it.

In terms of our regulations and guidelines to rate the are specific cafeterias that must be met for material to be rated X18.

Abongile Mashele, FPB Acting Chief Operating Officer

The movie was initially rated 16 LS but reclassified to x18 with sex, language, nudity, violence and prejudice.
