Film critic says that Black Panthers bodyguard Danai Gurira stole the show

Film critic Gayle Edmunds chats about the Black Panther movie, and shares her views on the symbolism, characters and overall production.

The Black Panther is the 18th movie in the Marvel series says Edmunds. The thing that’s great about the Black Panther is that there are so many great characters in it she adds.

Edmunds says that the head of his bodyguard Danai Gurira could have stolen the movie from T'Challa. She is an absolutely amazing character, and I see that she’s getting her own movie adds Edmunds.

One of the things that I loved the most was the production design.

The way they’ve integrated the African culture into all sorts of little places in Wakanda was spectacular says Edmunds, and adds that it’s a great movie with a predominantly black cast and lots of strong women.

It is a politically charged movie because of its representation.
