[LISTEN] NPA to oppose Atul Gupta's bid to keep R10 million linked to Estina

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says it will file court papers this week to oppose the application by Atul Gupta challenging a preservation order that was used to freeze R10 million linked to the Estina Dairy Farm scandal.

The NPA says its Asset Forfeiture Unit was served papers sometime last week, confirming that Atul will be challenging the state capture case.

NPA spokesperson Luvuyo Mfaku says the matter will be heard on the 1st of March.

If you look at our papers we filed when we obtained the preservation order, there is a financial investigator who is actually alluding to all the transactions. That information is from the paper trail that talks to the movement of money. We will file our papers, you will see how we came to the conclusion that it represents the prospects of crime and it was not used for what it was intended for.

Advocate Luvuyo Mfaku, NPA spokesman

If you had seen the papers, there are bank statements which we obtained through the 205 subpoena that actually substantiates our claim.
