CEO of South African Tourism, Sisa Ntshona says the term Day Zero being used to describe the drought in the Western Cape is a term locals are latching on to like Armageddon, but the message needs to remain consistent and tourists need to know 'we are still open for business', he says.
Ntshona says it is important to reassure 'customers' that the same levels of service will be available to them.
This is not an issue to Cape Town only, climate issues are a global thing. Cape Town, however is at the sharp end of this and is leading the way as to how global cities respond to water restrictions.— Sisa Ntshona, CEO of South African Tourism
Ntshona says tourists must come to Cape Town, to also be part of the solution. This is the new normal, he says.
