Nhlanhla Nene is set to make his return to cabinet as Finance Minister, with Mondli Gungubele as his deputy.

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced his new Cabinet at the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Monday night.

Nene was was removed by former president Jacob Zuma in 2015. Zuma explained the axing as a move to send him to Shanghai as the country's nomination for the head of the African Regional Centre of the BRICS bank.

There is work to be done. It is not about me being happy, but it is about being prepared to make a contribution. It is indeed a tall order, but I think it is time for all of us to roll up our sleeves.

It is going to take collective effort for us to put our economy back on track, it is indeed a continuation of work that has already begun. Things are not easy.
