[LISTEN] 2018 Cape Town Pride 'fully inclusive' say organisers.

Organisers of Cape Town's annual Pride festival say they've taken on board concerns from last year's event.

Some members of the LGBTQ community had accused the festival of not being inclusive and diverse enough.

There had been criticism that the event was geared only towards gay, white, able-bodied men.

Festival director Matthew van As joined Late Nights host Sara-Jayne King on Tuesday.

We definitely took on board what people were saying and after last year's event we looked at it, and from our side it was probably the most inclusive Pride ever. But, we are cognisant of what the community is saying and we will always engage with the community.

When we look at diversity in Pride, we look at the demographics in Cape Town.

Van As says the committee behind the festival represents the diversity within the LGBTQ community.

I think I'm the only white, gay, male on the committee. The majority of the committee is 66 percent black, lesbian females.

The Pride Parade and Mardi Gras will be held on Saturday 3 March.
