Corruption Watch wants Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane gone

Corruption Watch has called for the removal of Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane, saying her legal competence has been called into question.

The organisation is responding to Mkhwebane's appearance before the parliamentary Justice and Correctional Services Committee on Tuesday, to explain her report on the Estina dairy farm scandal as well as her office's lack of resources and capacity.

MPs have questioned Mkhwebane on why ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule and former mineral resources minister Mosebenzi Zwane, were not probed.

Executive director at Corruption Watch, David Lewis says the organisation has been circumspect in its response to the controversy surrounding Mkhwebane.

Really an accumulation of things, the report that she issued implicating the Reserve Bank, now the Estina Dairy report, clearly indicates that her legal competence has seriously been called into question and secondly her integrity has been called into question.

David Lewis, Executive director at Corruption Watch

I can't see how she can remain in the office.
