[VIDEO] White slime voice note spreading Lies (Not Lies-teriosis!)

Watch as consumer journalist Wendy Knowler explains why the WhatsApp voice note doing the rounds, blaming imported white slime (or meat glue) for the listeriosis outbreak, is spreading untruths.

This 'white slime' is added to processed meat products and Knowler says it is imported from the UK, Europe, and Argentina as well as Brazil.

WATCH:

But let's say it was coming in laced with listeria. Please understand that polony is a fully cooked product. So that heat in the plant...at Enterprise or anywhere else...is going to kill the listeria.

Wendy Knowler, ConsumerTalk host CapeTalk

Scientists are saying that the listeria contamination occurred post-processing, she insists.

So please disregard the WhatsApp voice note and focus on the facts as we know them.
