The construction of an additional lane at the Cape Point entrance will help alleviate the congestion, according to Table Mountain National Park (TMNP).
TMNP area manager Gavin Bell says several infrastructure upgrades are currently underway to help improve access management at the tourist site.
Bell says the extra lane is scheduled for completion by April, while other online booking mechanisms will be implemented by the end of the year.
He explains that TMNP officials are considering additional satellite parking bays to help take off the pressure.
