60% chance of rain predicted for Cape Town this weekend

While the rest of the country is receiving sufficient rainfall, dam levels continue to drop in the Western Cape.

But weather forecasters are predicting that a cold front approaching Cape Town this weekend might bring with it at least a 60% chance of rain.

Over the past two days, Gauteng has received 100mm of rain, but that's set to clear later on Friday.

We are experiencing a change in seasons, we are coming into winter and we might expect similar conditions to persist in the coming months.

Kumza Masizana, Weather forecaster at SA Weather Service

We expect more rainfall over the Southern part of the country, which is the Eastern and Western Cape as we mainly experience some cold fronts over winter.
