'Is it just me, or is Cape Town getting dirtier?

Used condoms, human faeces and vomit.

Just a few of the things listeners to Late Nights with Sara-Jayne King say they've seen while out and about in Cape Town.

Raising the issue of cleanliness in the city, King asked whether other people had also noticed a rise in the amount of filth and waste on beaches, in parks and the CBD.

It soon became a hot topic, with listeners calling in to share their stories.

People are leaving papers everywhere, dogs are running wild. It is filthy, and the municipality are doing NOTHING. It is filthy.

Late Nights caller

We were at the Waterfront and we got into the lift and couldn't believe the odour of urine. I was absolutely shocked.

Jean, Green Point

You drive down Witkoppen Road and see the litter, you will be flabbergasted.

Karen, Strand
