Drug lab bust in Soweto

Saps provincial head in Gauteng, Brigadier Mathapelo Peters says a Soweto house was found being used as a multi-million rand illegal drug laboratory. He says it was a major breakthrough for the police in their fight against drugs.

She says this was an intelligence-driven operation to confirm a tip-off by community members.

The National Police Commissioner General Khehla Sitole has expressed his appreciation in the commendable role played by the community.

Mathapelo Peters, SAPS Provincial head in Gauteng

Peters says by the time the police arrived at the house it was already abandoned, and no arrests were made.

Police are still processing the crime scene to establish what kind of drugs were being manufactured as well as finding the owners of the house.
