National Assembly speaker Baleka Mbete says the documentary 'Winnie' has given South Africans an opportunity to 'clear their minds' about 'certain patchy aspects' portrayed in the media about Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's life.

The documentary aired on ENCA on Wednesday is aimed at re-examining Madikizela-Mandela’s place in history.

The film features in-depth interviews with the struggle stalwart conducted over two years.

Mbete joined Karima Brown in studio to pay homage to Madikizela-Mandela.

She says the documentary has

I think it was so timely that documentary came out yesterday before we lay her to rest so we can clear our minds about certain patchy aspects that her life presented to us where we were to willing and too lazy to go with just whatever was dished out to us by the media.
