Sanco 'shocked' by Mahumapelo's alleged cattle gift to Zuma
The South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) in the North West says it has raised a number of concerns surrounding issues in the province.
While calls for Premier Supra Mahumapelo's removal increase, the Sunday Times reported that a herd of cattle valued at about R1.5 million meant for emerging farmers in the North West was gifted to Jacob Zuma by Mahumapelo.
Both Zuma and Mahumapelo are reportedly being investigated by the Hawks for possible fraud and corruption.
Sanco North West Provincial Chair Paul Sebego says it is shocked by the revelations.
North West is one of the most poverty-stricken provinces in the country. You would recall three years back when we experienced serious drought, huge numbers of cattle were lost as a result.Paul Sebego, SANCO North West Provincial Chair
We are very shocked to learn that amid those situations a person without conscience would then go and supply cattle which are so desperately needed in the North West to Kwazulu-Natal.Paul Sebego, SANCO North West Provincial Chair
