Gauteng MEC for Education, Panyaza Lesufi, says two men who hung an effigy of him in Tshwane on Wednesday 'crossed a line'.

Lesufi told 702 that an organisation against his efforts to equalize education has been threatening him for some time.

Lesufi says Wednesday's incident, outside the offices of Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga, was evidence the group were planning to take stronger action against him.

The MEC has been accused of wanting to rid Afrikaans from schools with his dual language policy.
