In 2010, 10 school children died in a train collision at the same level crossing.

Seven people have been killed on a level crossing in Cape Town.

Metrorail believes a fatal collissoin at Butskopp in Blackheath was down to human error.

Eyewitness News reporter Shamiela Fisher has more on the story.

Only the front section of the Toyota bakkie could be seen standing meters behind and that is all that is left of this vehicle.

From what we understand, the train was oncoming, a taxi went over the level crossing and the bakkie tried to do the same but could not get away in time.

Metrorail was saying an investigation will be launched but it believes it was purely a human error.

Residents are claiming there has been problem with the boom gates this week.
