Western Cape entrepreneurial funding fair kicks off to promote small businesses

Western Cape MEC for Economic Opportunities Alan Winde says the fair aims to bring business and government stakeholders together.

The Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism, in partnership with Deloitte, will be hosting a funding fair which is free of charge to businesses and entrepreneurs.

The aim is to bring small businesses together with government stakeholders, corporate stakeholders and other actors in the private sector as well.

Western Cape MEC for Economic Opportunities Alan Winde spoke to Kieno Kammies and said the purpose of the initiative is to overcome blockages that inhibit them employment growth specifically the SMME sector.

The SMME sector has a number of blockages but one of the most common that I pick up, wherever you are, is finding access to funding.

So its a very very important component in the economy and if funding is a problem, how do we create a platform that gets not only the businesses but the funding side as well to come together.

He said last year over 3000 entrepreneurs came to the funding fair, and this year, there will be great speakers, interaction and networking and exibitions.
