De Lille: I'm not going without fighting for my rights

Beleaguered Cape Town Mayor Patricia de Lille says she's thinking 'long term' when it comes to her ongoing internal battles within the Democratic Alliance (DA).

Speaking to Kieno Kammies on Tuesday morning she responded to suggestions that she simply 'leave the DA, take them to court and clear her name'.

I've got good, valid reasons for doing what I'm doing...I'm always connected to the bigger picture and the long-term and future of our country, where we are trying to build a rights-based culture.

De Lille says she is in the process of filing criminal charges against members of the DA she claims have circulated a 'fraudulent' report containing allegations she acted improperly over MyCiti bus tenders.

We are busy compiling a list of people that have posted this fraudulent report, supposedly from the Auditor General, once we have got the full list, I will then make the list public.

On Tuesday, senior members of the DA are expected to hold a media briefing regarding de Lille's future with the party.

Last month the DA succeeded in a vote of no confidence in the mayor, voting to recall her from office.

Earlier in the year de Lille had been accused of misconduct by the party, following various allegations against her.
