Afriforum confident court will rule in its favour on Grace Mugabe

Arguments in the Pretoria High Court on whether the decision to grant former Zimbabwean First Lady Grace Mugabe diplomatic immunity should be set aside.

Lawyer at AfriForum, Willie Spies says they expect the judge to deliver his verdict in the coming months.

Mugabe assaulted model Gabriella Engels at a hotel in Sandton last year without being prosecuted.

It's only if there is a decision of not to prosecute that Afriforum's private prosecutions would kick into action and we would start a process of private prosecution given the fact that Ms Engels is our client.

Willie Spies, Lawyer at AfriForum

Spies says it's difficult to preempt the decision of the courts but feels the arguments went well over the last two days.

We are quite confident that given our culture of human rights, and the commitment made by the constitution to protect vulnerable people especially women and children would favour this matter.
